how do i create an XYZ chart?

i want to make a 3D chart from my series of 3 dimensional points (3 columns)
but it appears excel cant do it.

Excel has only the most rudimentary 3D charting capabilities, mostly
along the lines of adding 3D effects to a perfectly good 2D chart.

Andy Pope has a working example showing how to use formulas and a 2D XY
chart to fake a 3D XYZ chart:
