How do I create a temp directory?

Hi,
First I want to apologize because I am drawing the biggest blank on how
to create a temp directory. Is it the same as a temp folder or file?

hi,
no reason to apologize
it's exactly the same as a folder
directory is the 'old' name for a folder as it was/is called under DOS
so I think you've got no problem creating a new temp folder
