I would like to have orginal e-mails with a certain subject go straight to a
particular folder. However, if there are any responses to these e-mails, I
would like for them to remain in my Inbox. Is this possible?

Look for "Re:" in the Subject header.

Sorry, I didn't phrase my question correctly. I should have said "how do I
create a rule for *original* e-mails only?" I don't need to see the original
e-mails with a certain subject, but I *do* need to see the responses.
Because of that, I'd like the original e-mail automatically go to a folder
and the responses to remain in my Inbox. I also just posted a new thread
more accurately titled "How do I create a rule for original msgs only?"
Thanks!

The original mail won't be in your Inbox to get "confused" with any
replies to it. The originals will be in the Sent Items folder (unless
you use a rule to put outbound mails in some other folder).

If your original mails are showing up in your Inbox then *you* must be
sending yourself a copy through your mail server rather than just
using the copy that got put in the Sent Items folder. Well, you can
still check for "Re:" in the Subject header. Just think in reverse.
You want all e-mails without "Re:" moved to some other folder but
leave e-mail with "Re:" in your Inbox. So create a rule that moves
all e-mails to the other folder EXCEPT those with "Re:" in the
Subject.
