I have to reformat my hard drive in a week, so I need instructions to back up
my e-mails and all folders and how to restore everything.

It depends on your version of Outlook and the type of email account you have.
If you're a home user and have a PST, here's the ticket for you (for most
versions of Outlook):

http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/backupandrestore.htm

If not, please post back and provide more details.

I cannot get past stage one - when i look for the pst files i cn get as far
as c:\users\username and then there is no AppData folder. I have looked in
the mail set up and the directory is as stated in the website you recommended
however i simply cannot find this directory as the search engine in vista
doesnt bring it up
