I used to be able to copy the pst file in Outlook XP to back-up on another
computer. Recently I keep getting a message that a "portion is locked by
another process" and will not let me copy. Any ideas what the problem is and
how to solve it?

It means that Outlook hasn't fully closed yet.

Is Outlook open or "closed" but still running in your Task Manager?
