How do I copy Outlook databases from one PC to another?

I want to copy the saved e-mails and folders, as well as the address book,
from outlook XP on a PC with XP OS to a new PC with Vista OS. I will be
using outlook XP on the new PC as well.

I am fairly computer savvy, but evidently not enough to know how to do this.
I've tried exporting the .pst files on the old PC onto a jump drive, but was
not successful when I tried to import them to the new PC.

You would certainly never use export and import for this since your data is
already in Outlook format. Your question is answered here daily. Never hurts
to read before you post.
The file you need is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the
mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.
