I have some VHS tapes, that mine and they are from the later 80s, I want
to copy them to DVD and I get the Copy Protection alert when I try. I have
an older machine that will not recognise the Macro Protection but is
currently DEAD, not sure if I can even get parts. Does anyone know of any
software that will allow me to by-pass the encrytion and enable me to copy my
VHS to DVD? I am talking Legal Coping here, I bought them, they are mine and
they are beyond the time limit of Image preservation for Tape. I want to make
longer lasting copy of them while they are still half way decent in quality,
One is the Last Waltz and is a Super Video.
I have done Google Searches with No Luck and that is why I am asking?
I'll pay for the software, that is NOT the issue.

Well you may have purchased the tapes but you didn't purchase the
copyright......

If you have an older ATI graphics card with VIVO
http://www.biline.ca/ati_macrovision.htm

If you've got any other card, you're probably out of luck. You'll also need
third party capturing software.... I use PowerDirector. v3, v4 and v5 all
work.

The copy protection used on VHS tapes is Macrovision
and it is easily defeated.
The best and easiest method is with a Standalone unit
That you connect the outputs of VCR to, and then connect
from the device to inputs of capture card on PC.
known as a "Macrovision stripper device" (Type that in
google to get all the info you require)
They are readily available, very cheap, very effective and
can be purchased online - approx $20 - $40

Thanx Ken
I actually went here http://www.checkhere22.com/stabilizer_tech.html
and found something like that was Guaranteed for 15 days or money back and
was closer to home. My Google Failure was due to the wrong Seach description,
I entered Microvision eliminator verus Macrovision remover and I got the
results.
Thanks to all
