I inserted a movie in ppt. I noticed it is not the movie, but a shortcut to
the original movie. I'd like to know the option to change the pathname, or
include the complete movie. Pls help!

Multimedia files are linked, not embedded, into PPT files.

Sounds/Movies don't play, images disappear or links break when I move or
email a presentation

The above link should help you ensure that your links don't break.

Xander,

Movies / videos are always "linked" to a file and never embedded into a
powerpoint (.ppt .pps) file. Sorry.

more reading on this is at

I hope you all don't mind my comment, but this solution is very
'unprofessional'. The solution shouldn't be insert the video in the same
folder of your presentation... Imagine we have 100 videos and a ppt file and
want to distribute the presentation; do you find professional to display all
videos and ppt in the same folder?

Hope Microsoft considers this new features in incoming versions; at least
use the same solution of .swf files, with VB editor!

Please consider this comment as a healthy advice. :-)

It may be unprofessional, it may even be not the best way of doing things.
But it's the only way that works reliably.

I do not work for microsoft

Cheers

Yes, if the only alternative is distributing a presentation that doesn't work.
;-)

Actually it IS possible to link to a sister or subfolder, but only via code.
There's no user interface for it.

If you have your PPT in C:\Staging\Myfile.PPT and your videos in
C:\Staging\Videos\ then you can programmatically set the links to
Videos\filename and PPT finds them.

You can create this sort of link by editing the links with the code at:

Show me the link and let me edit it
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00433.htm

Our FixLinks add-in can do the whole thing for you automatically.
