How do I change font color to black when composing new e-mails?

I have tried to change color thru tools/options/mail format. The only thing
I change there is size and type, not color. The color defaults to beige
everytime I'm in outlook whether it be composing new or replying. Stationery
has been set up.

Any ideas?????

And if you don't use stationery, what happens? WHat version of Outlook?
Using Word as the editor or not?
