How do I change the default installation directory?

Hi, I have a partitioned hard drive with seperate partition for my
applications. How do I set the default installation path to be E:\Program
Files not C:\Program Files? This will make it much more convenient for me.
Plus, some installation programs just install in the default location with
no chance to specify!
Thanks!

Since you can not change the way 3rd party programs are written, you have to
live with this. Not all programs will allow you to perform a custom
installation. Many programs will "always" install part of their files to
C:\Programs Files.

Ok, but I have had it set up in the past so that it automatically installed
to E:\Program Files, not C:\Program Files. This was when I moved C:\Program
Files to E:. There WASN'T a C:\Program Files!!! However, I don't want to do
that this time, I want my Windows apps, like IE & OE to be on C: and the
rest to be on E. I'm sure there's somewhere in the registry that
installation programs refer to.

There are no settings in any OS to compensate for lazy programming. If
an installer doesn't give me a choice of where to install the
application I just assume the app is as poorly written as its installer
and refuse to use the software.
