When I upgraded my computer I set up a different user name and now when I go
to publish to the web frontpage wants to upload all the same files again
because it think something has changed and the only thing I can see diferent
in the file is the author name field. So how can I change this field? I would
just upload anyways but I only have dialup and it a 50MB website.

You can't change it, but you can have your host set your login to the remote site to be the same as it was so the remote site sees
you as the same users

Assuming the machine is running Windows 2000 or XP, right click Network on the desktop ( or from the
start menu, or from the control panel ) and select properties. In the window that opens click
Network Identification. On the next panel Click the Properties button and rename your computer.

It will require a reboot to take effect. Make sure you remember what you put in or windows will
refuse to open.

Also, this will not change the author name of any files you have created / edited in your local web
since your upgrade, so you will have to open and close them to change it.

hth.
