How do I "cc" or forward to someone without inviting them?

I want to let people know about a meeting without inviting them. How do I
"cc" or foward an invitation to someone without inviting them to the meeting?

you could forward the calendar item as Icalendar:

This is probably not a good solution - it still sends it as a meeting
request.

Send them a mail message and drag the calendar event to the message as an
attachment.
