Is there a way to prevent the to-do bar from appearing in the inbox but still
have it in the calendar view, or is it an all or nothing situation?

Thank you.

Yes, that is possible. By default it shows in the Mail folders but not in
the Calendar.

Yes. Just turn it on in your Calendar and off in your Inbox. Select the
folder and then Choose View | To Do Bar ....

Thanks. I've done this (or, actually, right clicked on top of the To-Do Bar
and clicked "Off"), but after re-opening Outlook, the bar comes back.

Right click on the To-Do Bar to get to the Options and deselect showing tasks
and apointments. That worked for me. You can also change the number of
calendar months to display.

It *should* stick in views but if it doesn't for you how about minimizing
it?

If you go under View, To-Do Bar, select Options. This takes you to another
area where you can select or not select whether you want tasks, appointments
and/or date navigator (calendar). I unchecked tasks and appointments from
this area and it retains the calendar without the other info each time I open
Outlook. It sounds like there may be a bug if done any other way.

Hope this helps.
