How do I attach a note to appear on a day in calendar?

My filofax is still my preferred method of organisation because of one
reason. I use it to record information attached to various days. For example
- overtime, hours worked, expenses etc.

I still haven't found an easy and reliable way of making notes for a
particular day in calendar. Any ideas?
