how do i archive repeating meetings from outlook?

I cannot archive repeating / recurring meetings from Outlook. The entries
will not dissappear from the calendar. Any ideas?

If they are still repeating, they are active and will never archive as
archiving acts on the modified date. The modified date for recurring events
is always the next event date.
