How do I apply selected parts of a template?

I am running PowerPoint 2002 SP3. I have created a presentation using
template A, and suddenly wants to use template B. But - and that's the tricky
part - I don't want to apply all of it. If I do, lot's of things get shifted
around.

In other words: Is there a way to apply a new template to an existing
presentation where you can select/deselect what items you want? Eg. if you
only wanted to apply the background from template B?

Suggestions welcome. My boss wants to know the answer to this. If it cannot
be done, that would also save my day :-)

Hi,

Tell your boss it is too hard. If you apply a template, it will affect all
elements on that slide.

How about creating a new template that has just the elements you want from
both templates? Call this template C. As you want each new set of specific
elements, put them in a new template.

If you only want to use the new set of elements in one slide, them maybe a
new template is too much trouble - simply put those elements on that slide
alone.

Hi Glen.

Thanks. What you're saying is that it can be done technically, but would
definitely require more-than-average PP skills?

Best regards,
Jan

Yes. If you apply a template, it applies to all elements.

To work around this would be a matter of copying the background elements you
want and then pasting them onto specific slides, sending them to the back,
etc.

You wouldn't be actually *applying* the template in that case, though.

You can't selectively apply elements from this and that template, but you can
create a new template that has the elements you want, then apply that.
