How do I apply a plain underline to bold text?

I am using Word and trying to create a form, like a template, that has blank
lines in it that can be filled in by typing over them. When I try to type
over the lines with bold text, it turns the lines bold. Is there a way I can
create a document with blank lines which I can type bold words over without
the line turning bold? Help! This is a school project and I have been
trying to figure it out for an hour!

Thank you!

We don't normally tell answers for homework. But I'll give you a clue: you
cannot do this with an underline, look at other ways of creating lines.
