I have AD integrated DNS on my win2003 network, and when one of the DNS
servers goes down, i lose internet connectivity all together... i assumed the
second DNS server would handle DNS, being that DNS is AD integrated..... how
do i go about fixing this?..

Perhaps the DNS is working but you have not configured DHCP on both DCs?

What do you mean by "i lose internet connectivity all together..."? Do you
have an IP assigned?

Also... are the cleints configured for both for DNS?

sorry, i was to vague..... when the main DC goes down, the client pc's are
not able to get the the internet..... (I have the these two dns servers
configured in dhcp) I assumed that AD integrated DNS meant that i wouldnt
need to install dns on the other domain controllers...

You still need to install DNS, the AD integrated zones will replicate.

would would it make sense to call the zone on the second server the same
name as the zone on the first server? what is best practice?...

DO NOT manually add zones on DCs if the same zone exists on another DC in
the domain.

what is best practice?...

You will not need to and should not create any zones if it is a DC and there
are other DCs in the same domain with AD integrated zones.
The AD integrated zones will replicate as soon as the DNS service is
installed. Though, it may take a few minutes for the zones to appear in the
console.

I did not say to create a zone, I said "install DNS and the AD integrated
zones will replicate"

I'm afraid you've confused installing the DNS service with creating zones.
These are two different things.
