DNS Resolution Through firewall

Hi all,

Can anyone help with this?

I run a Windows 2000 network that uses AD and DNS with a
internal domain name.
We have recently been in discussions with another company
and need to now semi-connect our two netwroks together.

We have a firewall between our networks and I would like
to be able to get my netwrok to query their DNS servers.
They also use Windows 2000, AD and DNS.

Is this possible to do without messing up my existing DNS?

I also have an internet connection through a firewall of
our own so would not want to ess that up either.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks.

RobL

Many thanks for that! Most useful.

However, intially we just need to resolve DNS names on
their network for browsing intranet sites and not really
setup a complete trust between the networks.

I was thinking that I could just setup their DNS servers
as forwarders in my DNS server. Is this not
sufficient/correct?

thanks,

RobL

Easiest method would be to act as secondary to their zone, and they
act as secondary to yours. Port 53 TCP/UDP open in any firewall
between you and you're good to go.
