DNS fails after removing firewall

After removing McAfee firewall, the DNS client has failed.
I can connect to other computers on our LAN and I can ping
the DNS servers (or any other computer) with an IP
address. No functions requiring DNS will work. I have
uninstaled and reinstalled every component but no luck.
The information I see on the internet suggests this is a
very common problem but nobody offers solution. McAfee
says to reinstall the firewall, but I do not have the
software available to do so. It was a download and I
deleted the source when I removed the application.

Anyone with experience on this problem?

One question, is the DHCP Client service running? That's a needed component
that must be running, whether the machine is set to DHCP or static.

Otherwise, if you've re-installed EVERY component (not sure what components
you mean, since you didn't list them), then the onluy course of action is to
re-run setup as an upgrade to refresh the operating system components
without losing your settings, apps, etc. Then reinstall the service packs
and re-run Windowsupdate to bring you up to date.

Too bad McAfee can't help other than telling you to reinstall THEIR product
to fix it.
