dns error or cannot find server

I udpated from 98se to XP home and now when I try to get
on internet I get the message "cannot find server or dns
error" I am using IE6. I connect to ISP and it appears to
connect ok and I am online. Could also get message page
cannot be displayed. I can still get on internet by
booting from second drive with 98se loaded. Anyone have a
handle on this problem? thanks norjoa
