Hi,
We have a small network containing of 2 DCs (win2000 domain) and a number of
win2000 and winnt workstations. The DCs and some of the memeber workstations
are behind firewall (NETGEAR FR328). The DNS server is running on the PDC in
AD integrated mode and uses forwarding to the DNS server of our
organization. I wonder if this is the correct configuration, because we keep
getting Warning Event ID 5781. Please, any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Nasser Hosseini

Nasser,
There have been 5781s abundanly reported since SP4 I don't know if this
applies let me ask.
Is this SP4?
Do you have a single label domain name? (domain vs.domain.com)

If this applies to you check this out:

Single-Label DNS Names

There has been some posts concerning 5781's and SP4. Is SP4 installed?

If this is SP4, try this:
Backup your registry key first, by using regedit, then "export" to a .reg
file.

Go into the reg under:

HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\services\tcpip\parameters

And if there is a setting called:

disabledynamicupdate" with a value of "1" under

Change it to 0 (to allow updates).

If that doesn't work, delete this key and see if it works.
Make sure you back it up first.
