DNS & External Nic

I have two nic cards in my Windows 2000 server.

When I ping the server name from the internal network I get the nic IP
address of the Internal NIC.

When I ping the server name from the Server I get the nic IP address of
the External NIC.

This is causing problems with our network, exchange, etc. The services
running on the Windows server resolve the server name to the External
address. This will cause exchange and other things to break because the
External IP isn't open to things like the Internal DNS because we
blocked those ports via ISA Server.

Windows DNS is running on the server and I made sure our server name
was listed in there and pointed to the Internal nic. Where else could
the Server be resolving this address? I looked in the Hosts file but
nothing was in there except local loopback address.
Thanks for any help.
Andy Frank
