Looking to upgrade my back-up system and wondering if DLT
drives work with XP pro - all product descriptions viewed
online state drives require Windows NT?

DLT is mainly used for server style computers. You need to install a SCSI
host adapter and then the drivers for the tape drive. I do not know if XP
drivers would exist because it is not a server OS.
