I'm creating images of my workstations and upon doing some testing I noticed
that it takes a long time restoring the DLLCache and ServicePackFiles
folders on my 2k workstations. Looking at these directories, DLLCache is
approx 150mb and servicepackfiles is around 200mb. I've been doing a little
reading up on the dllcache folder and realize what it is used for. However,
I'm curious if I can create a stripsteam package of Win2k+Sp4 and store it
on a network share somewhere, and then maybe change a registry key or
something. This would allow me to clear out the dllcache/servicepackfiles
directories and move them to a network share. I'm hoping there is a
registry setting somewhere that windows uses to find the location of these
folders. For example, if I install a program that is going to overwrite a
crucial DLL, being that Id like to get rid of dllcache locally, can i have
it automatically look to a dif location?
