Hi

I would like to create a distribution list in non-alphabetic order in
Outlook 2007. In Contacts, the distribution list is created in alphabetic
order always, I canot find how to change the order of memebers in a list.

Thank you for any help.

M.

You mean you want the contacts within the list to be in non-alphabetic
order? I'm not entirely clear on what you’re trying to do here or why. Can
you elaborate?

Yes of course. When I start adding people in a distribution list, the order
of those people is arranged in alphabetic order, regardless of how I typed
them. Say, I add members: N. Smith, H. Clinton, B. Bush.

The order in the distribution list appears as: B. Bush, H. Clinton, N.
Smith, which is in alphabetic order. If I send an email to this distribution
list, the names (in the email) appear in alphabetic order. In my
Organization, the order of who is first, who is last, is sensitive. Silly,
but it is just the way it is. So, I would like to send an email to a
distribution list that contains the order I have selected, which is not
alphabetic.

Thank you

M.

you'd have to configure contacts to keep the important people at the top
alphabetically - spaces, dots, numbers etc always come ahead of letters. Or
just explain over and over that its not a slight against them, but just how
life works in the alphabetical world.

Or... you could put them on the To line and everyone else on the CC - but
you can't control that in the DL. You'd need two DL - one for the important
people and one for the peons who follow.
