distorted sound when i use my mouse...please help!

anytime i use the scroll button on my mouse or touch a key on the keyboard i
get horrible distortion in my speakers. media player is working fine but the
sound in games is distorted also. I'm not sure if it is a hardware or a
software problem....I don't know what to do! please help!
