Scroll down to section 8 and you'll see a header “My CD drives have vanished
(from Explorer, Device Manager, etc.).” There is a link to the file in the
middle of the paragraph.
This seems to have been the perfect fix for me, but I definitely backed up
my registry before hand just in case. I would recommend you do the same.
