I have to post a lot of Excel spreadsheets to our Web site. I have Excel
2000 and FP2003. After I've edited the Excel file I save it with Save As Web
Page. When I view it with a browser, however, it is not uncommon to see
cells with no borders, text not displayed the way I presented it in the Excel
file, and other poor display issues.

What is the problem with conversion? Is there a better way to put a
spreadsheet into a Web page? These sheets look like something from the
pre-Windows period of computing.

Using the "save as web page" option in other Office applications is always
risky and frequently provides unacceptable results.

What are you trying to do with the speadsheets?

If you just want to display the information you can try copying the
worksheet form Excex and pasting it into FrontPage or you can upload the
Excel file and let the visitors open it in Excel (provide a link to the
Excel viewer

You can also export as a csv file from Excel then import the CSV data to
FrontPage and use the convert text to table function to have the page
created match your site.

Thank you. I tried copying the Excel data into FP. . .it was okay. I'll try
the csv export/import, and if all else fails, let everyone open it in Excel.

It still seems like MS could have a more sophisticated exchange.

If you have Office web extensions on your host you could embed the Excel
file but as I said it depends on what you want to do with it.

The spreadsheet displays golf tournament results. A column of names and
scores--which I don't want to spend the time re-creating in FP. I just want
to tidy up the columns a little (the original page is produced by another
person, then e-mailed to me). It's just an information page you get to by
link from another page. Nothing interactive, just plain-jane names and
numbers in columnar format.

Doesn't work w/ Excel .xls files

Save as Html or copy (from SS) & paste to FP page are options user should use

Thanks, MVP's! The links are very helpful. Looks like the copy and paste
option works the best, but I got a little education in the meantime about
converting files.
