I'm trying to help a friend 1,000 miles away get his screen display set to
his liking. The characters are too large according to what I can get out of
him on the phone. Am I correct in telling him to go to Start/Control
Panel/Display/Settings? He can write down his present setting and then
experiment to his liking.

Hi

Or right click the Desktop and select Properties>Settings.

Also right click Desktop - Properties>Settings>Advanced - make sure that the
DPI setting: drop down menu is set to 'Normal size(96 DPI).

I had my hard drive erased and Windows XP upgrade installed and the setting
are at 96 dpi normal size, but this setting is still too large for comfort, I
have to move the screen to scroll down the page? Does anyone have a
suggestion as to how to correct this. I have a 19" monitor.

What is the resolution set for ... Control Panel | Display | Settings?
Are you using any theme? Control Panel | Display | Appearance?
