Display is not the same size as the screen, it doesn't cover all of it.

Rightclick open area center of screen/then Properties/Desktop tab
Towards the bottom right of window under Position, check "Stretch"
Click Apply and OK.

Nothing whatsoever to do with XP. Suggest you RTFM that came with your
computer or monitor, specifically the section relating to the OSD (On Screen
Display).

Ensure that you have resolution set to 1024 x 768.. if it still doesn't fit
the screen, try messing with the buttons on the front of the monitor.. if no
printed manual was supplied, you might want to go to the monitor
manufacturer web site and download it..
