Display Redraw Problems?

I have been having problems with my display ever since I
installed Windows XP. The troubleshooters hints on
changing my display settings do not help.
I'm having redraw problems, and it's very annoying.
Everytime I move a window or type, lines block the way
and sometimes hinder me from reading the words properly.
Any feedback?
