when I go to control panel and open up display properties, I'm missing the

1. The Desktop tab does not appear in the Display Properties dialog box in
Windows XP

2. Restore Desktop Display Properties:-
Line 285 Right hand side - restore display tabs.

3. Or you could try:

Start>Run, and type:
regsvr32 /i shell32
regsvr32 themeui

Pressing OK after each line (or hit Enter)

Reboot the computer.
