Display Problem while running program

I am trying to run a ham radio logging program on a newly-purchased IBM
refurbished computer (Pentium IV; XP Professional). I currently have this
program
installed on 2 other computers; an IBM laptop (Pentium II, XP Professional)
and
an older HP "Kayak" workstation PC with Windows 98SE.

The program works just fine on the other 2 computers but I seem to have a dis-
play problem with the newer computer. When I attempt to enter in information
for a ham radio contact (the first field is the person's callsign; the next
field is
the date (mm-dd-yy) and the next field is the time of the contact), the
callsign
is displayed properly. I then press "enter" and the vertical blinking
"cursor bar"
moves to the next field. If I try to change the date to other than the
current dis-
played date, part of the field changes to a blue color. After I get done
making
the changes and again press "enter" to move the cursor to the next field, the
numbers are displayed correctly in the previous field.

What I cannot seem to figure out is why the field changes to a blue color when
I try to make changes. I also have discovered that the "backspace arrow" key
will not function correcly, nor will the "delete" key function properly. In
other
applications (such as e-mail), these keys work normally. I have tried changing
keyboards and also compared file numbers and sizes on the computers.

Thank you for any help with this.

Sounds like these issues may be related to a bad or worn-out keyboard. I
suggest trying a different "known to be good" keyboard.

you can run msinfo32

there you can get an overview
of conflicts.

you can also go to the
menu options and run
a few tests...
