I recently used a Uniblue program to search for and install an updated driver
for XP. However, since then, it looks as though the former display on my
screen has been blown up by about 50 percent. All icons on the desktop and
all website and all program displays are greatly expanded and some are just
not usable. Haven't been able to figure out how to return to the previous
display format. Would appreciate assistance in figuring this out. I have XP
version 2002 SP3. Thanks a lot.

The Display control panel has a resolution setting (slider sets the resolution).
Mine is set to 1280x1024, to match the native 1280x1024 pixels on my display.
If you select some resolution other than the native value, the resampling
of the pixels may degrade the readability of text. You can experiment with
that, and see what you think.

If you click the Advanced button, there is a "DPI setting". Mine is set to
125% normal size, which makes things bigger.

And the Appearance tab has some Font control as well, which I haven't bothered to use.

If you use the Effects button, in the Appearance tab, there is "ClearType".
That tends to make text look a bit fuller.

So the Display control panel has stuff you can use, to improve the appearance.

One side effect of making those changes, is some dialog boxes may not render
properly. But since I don't have to squint quite as hard, that is a fair
tradeoff.

IMO a very bad idea to use a third party driver scanning utility, you dont
neccessarily no what/where you are downloading from
Obtain drivers from hw manufacturers sites, or, in the case of a laptop or
major OEM, eg Dell/HP etc from their sites.

And more importantly if it aint broke dont fix it

In regard your origonal Q, roll back the dispaly driver in device manager
