Display Messenger Status in Outlook

I am running Communicator 2005 and Outlook 2003 on an Exchange server. I
cannot get the Communicator status to properly display on the From line in
Outlook 2003 emails.

In Outlook, under Tools > Options > Other, I have the "Enable the Person
Names Smart Tag" checked. I also have the "Display Messenger Status in the
From field" checked. After I click Apply, both boxes stay checked. However,
after I click OK, then go back to this Options tab, the "Display Messenger
Status in the From field" box unchecks itself every time.

The smart tag is enabled, as it appears when I hover the mouse over the
name, but it always shows the status as unknown. If I select the smart tag
drop-down box, it does show whether they are available for the next 8 hours,
or whenever their next scheduled meeting is. I would like the icon to
properly display, though.

Any ideas how to keep this option checked? Or is it possibly an issue with
the configuration when our IT set it up?

Thanks,
Jason

I believe it may be related to the build of messenger/communicator - some
builds don't integrate as well as they should.
