I have a problem where occasionally my display looks like it is wet paint
and it is running!!

Can anyone say if this is a known virus? Tho' my AV s/w isn't spotting it

Or maybe is it some other cause that some could suggest.

The PC is locked up after this effect happens.

Don't use that screen saver.

Try searching Symantec and Google. That is a virus sympton
I've heard about but never seen,

Almost certainly a 'joke'. But not so funny if it freezes your PC.
Adaware or Spybot S&D should find it.
