Hello,

I left my computer and my son was tinkering with it.
When I came back, my display had all moved by 90 degrees to the left, ie I
have to turn my head sideways 90 degrees to be able to see the display,
icons, any file I open properly, and read them.
Also, the mouse pointer..when I move the mouse up, the pointer goes down,
when I move the mouse to the left, the pointer moves to the right ?? I tried
all the monitor options, to move the image, etc. but I do not think this is
the problem.
I have Windows XP home edition, Dell, pentium 4, 256 ram, running antivirus
PCcillin, etc. I have entered in Safe mode with networking, and everything
is fine with the display and the mouse.

I tried unplugging the mouse, replugging, etc. no luck.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks in advance,

Eli

Some graphics cards come with utilities or an option to rotate your display.
Most likely to be found in the Display/Advanced option.

Click on Start/Control Panel/Display/Setting Tab, Advanced button or it
could be an
Icon in the control panel specifically for the Video Card you have.

The following may also work: CTRL+ALT+Up arrow on some but not all video
cards.

Look under Display Options in Control Panel, tab to Settings, Advanced and
search for a setting that controls orientation. Then password protect your
user account to keep your son from doing it again.

Try CTRL+ALT+Up arrow until it gats to the correct position or look at your
display adapter controls

I think that the cause of this problem is the monitor settings. If your son
has somehow tinkered it, then to be very logical, it's very rare for him to
go and change the display properties of the display adapter by right clicking
on the desktop. Moreover, not all adapters support this orientation feature.
I suppose, the monitor supports certain feature of rotation in the buttons
somewhere below the screen. Try locating the rotation/orientation option from
the menu buttons infront of the monitor and reset it to default. Most
probably this will be the cause or else, play around with the display
properties as pointed out by others.
