Display of embedded video problem

I've been using a PowerPoint 2003 presentation for a couple of years and
apart from minor updates it has remained unchanged. It has several video
clips in it and these have played on the laptop screen and the projector at
the same time without problem. I have now updated the laptop to a higher
spec version and am starting to get some problems.

When I play the presentation the laptop version runs the video fine, but the
projector adjusts the video clip to play full screen. By itself this would
be workable ... but as it resizes the screen goes blue for a few seconds and
the start of the video is lost (it's also rather annoying to watch). If I
only play the presentation on the projector it plays straight away.

Is PowerPoint tying to get the laptop trying to do something smart and/or
can I make it work like a lower spec laptop? The projector is the same
projector.

PowerPoint 2003
Old laptop - Acer 244
New laptop - Acer 5633 (widescreen)
Projector - IBM ILV300

Help appreciated ...
