Using the Quick Upgrade method, I have just upgraded my o/s, from Win ‘98, to
Win XP Home Edition.

Everything seems to be working quite well.

However with Win ‘98 I was able to have the “Connect To Dial-Up” box, launch
itself onto the deck-top screen as soon as Windows had finished its
installation. All I had to do to make my Dail-Up Internet Connection was to
click on the Box’s “Dial” button.
How I find I have to click on the “Start” Button, then the “Connect To”, and
then the “Dial” button.

Is there some way to get the “Dial Up box” to open automatically onto the
Deck Top Screen, ( as it did before in Win ‘98 ), so I can just click the
Dial button when I want to connect to my ISP.

Easier method would be to drag the icon from Connect To menu to desktop
first then click Start | All Programs, right on Start menu and select Open.

Drag the dial-up icon from the desktop into Start menu programs window.

Next time you login, the items in the startup menu including the dial-up
window should run automatically.

Hi,

Disable or Enable AutoDial (Line 91)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Added info:

I have a small utility called KeepRAS.Exe This small Visual Basic program
will adjust your registry settings, so that the dial up connection will not
drop when switching users. If you like, you can also use the utility to
change things back to the way they were.

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/KeepRAS.Exe to download the utility.

There is no installer, just save it to your hard drive and double click it.
You must be logged in as an Administrator, or use the RunAs to use this
program, as Registry "write" permissions are required.

Or see line 32:

Keep Ras Connection within Fast User Switching (Line 32)
