Does anyone else have a display bug in the GUI? When I load up the first form
the 3 'buttons' in the top right (Spyware Scan, Real-time protection,
Advanced tools) are not visble until I click on one of the forms links or
buttons. Also, the form is not drawn correctly with lines broken and coloured
parts of the form don't fill parts of the form that they should. I've got the
latest version and I've tried updating the software through the control
panel, then clicking change. No joy.

Try these steps:

1) Open up a command prompt (start -> run -> type in -> command)
2) Type in the following "regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll" (without the quºtes).
3) Close and re-open Windows Defender

Afraid this didn't solve the problem. Any further ideas? Thanks,

Just out of interest. What screen resolution are you using? Have you try to
changed.

I've seen this occasionally, and others see it regularly. If you can't get
rid of it--perhaps by unloading a video maker's utility from the system
tray??---and it is sufficiently annoying, you may need to wait for
beta2--this is (yet another) bug which is fixed in beta2, which they are now
saying will be available before the end of March.

Tried changing the resolution. No joy. I have a fault with ie that might be
related? If I visit nationwide.co.uk the page is displayed wrong. See
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/jmoore/

The res is 1024 x 768.

Thanks,

I was misunderstanding your issue in the last reply--I thought that you were
seeing the "hidden" window that sometimes becomes visible.

I'm not sure about your issue at all. I'd be inclined to suggest backing
off video driver versions back to the last one which is WHQL certified for
your hardware, if possible.

I'm now thinking this is a driver issue. I uninstalled and re-installed my
current driver and in between the uninstall and install (before restart) the
GUI was shown almost perfectly. After the restart, the corrupted display
returned. I've now un-installed AS, partly down to this, and partly down to
the machine being used by multiple users. Will try BETA2, when it's
released...

Thanks,

Thanks--that sounds like a very reasonable course. I'd be interested to
hear if this issue still exists with beta2--but I suspect that it won't.
