day before yesterday the dvi display adapter stopped working. So figured a
ms update must have caused it & tried to restore. There are no restore
points, so what happened to the restore points? BTW I booted up xp & the dvi
works fine there so anyone got any ideas? TIA

If you are dual-booting XP and Vista, XP deletes Vista's restore points.

Hi,

Booting into XP removed your restore points, this is a well known
consequence of dual booting these two operating systems. There is no
recovering the deleted restore points.

I don't know of any recently released update that would have affected your
display driver. If there was, you could use the driver rollback feature of
Device Manager. Otherwise, I would suggest downloading and installing the
most recent release of drivers and supporting software directly from the
manufacturer of the display adapter.

Tried that & the option was grayed out. Evidently there was no change in the
driver. Go Figure.

Yes I am dual booting. So now how do I get rid of the suspected ms updates?

Ok I have it running again. Went & got the latest drivers but still no
banana. Then got to looking @ nvidia control panel. It only had the analog
crt but when I went to configure multiple displays there was the dvi
monitor. Some how that had reverted to crt only :-(. Set up the dvi & vola
the monitor came alive. Thanks for all the suggestions.
