"The cause of open-source 3D rendering just got a shot in the arm from a somewhat surprising source - the Disney corporation. As announced over on Monophyl.com - via Slashdot - the corporation's animation arm, Walt Disney Animation Studios, has released its Ptex 3D texture mapping code under a BSD open-source licence." The comments relating to this announcement are just as interesting as the article. Seems like the big players feel that they can still make money even if they open up their software.
