the diskette works fine on win9x systems, open all the
documents and things like that, format and copy.

but when i try to open in a windows 2000 machine gives me
the error that the disk is not formatted or insert a disk
in the drive.

i tested on several diferent machines, with windows 2000
and windows xp, always the same error.
..

Try formatting the floppy in 2K and see if it is accessed in both
OS's. As I recall, the older dos based OSs didn't always set the
media bit when formatting floppies (or something along those lines)
and then when the more recent M$ stuff looked for it and didn't find
it, they wanted to format it. Thought it only happened with the real
DOS stuff but perhaps 9x falls prey to it also.

I've been having the same problem since we upgraded a
couple of computers to Windows 2000. Some NT machines
read the floppies, all W95 machines will, but 2K won't.

They also won't let me reformat unless I do it at 720kb!
Looks like we now have a draw full of almost useless
floppies!
