Disk Unreadable after Basic to Dynamic Disk Update

While completing a conversion from Basic to Dynamic Disk
we encountered a power failure (someone tripped over a
temp power cable). Available documentation suggests that
in this case the volume is lost.

Does anyone know how you can get the data back?
