Well, that is the message of doom I keep on getting from
my computer when it starts up. So far I have tried to
use the windows xp installation disk and redo my hard
drive, but all it ever does is get to the "press any key
to continue page" and then say the disk read error from
there. Does anyone know any possible ways to fix my
problem?

You may have a problem with your hard drive or the cable that connects it to
the motherboard.

Open the computer and make sure that the hard drive is securely attached to
its data cable, and that the cable itself is firmly attached to the
motherboard.

Go to the technical support section of the web site of the manufacturer of
your hard disk, where you should be able to download their hard drive
diagnostic tests. Check your hard drives for problems, using these
diagnostic tests.

You should try to backup your important files.
