My Disk space cleanup manager (cleanmgr.exe) has ceased
to work and clicking on it slows the entire machine until
a reboot. I can't get through to Microsoft for help
because their automated messenger server won't accept my
windows registry number, although I know it is correct.

Since MS is of no help, can anyone help me correct the
disk cleanup problem?

When you run the Disk Cleanup utility, the program may stop responding
(hang) while scanning for compressed files.

CAUSE
This issue occurs when there is an incorrect entry in the registry that is
used by the Disk Cleanup utility to locate compressed files..
