Sorry for the long post,I put in as much information as i could.
I just bought a couple of old 486's and one of them im re-building. It
had windows from the previous owner,it worked fine,i re-formatted and
re-partitioned the hd and put windows on it in anouther machine since
at the time this one didnt boot from cd in the bios. (I replaced the
chip with the same one except this boots from cd). I installed
windows, and put it in the old machine and now it gives me the error
"Disk I/O error, replace disk and try again" I tried 3 differnet
harddrives and 3 cables, same thing. it did the same with the old bios
chip as well. I can boot from cd and floppy, made a boot floppy, booted
from it,and erased the drive and re-formatted and re-partitioned it
again,went to boot from cd,it did,went to install windows,it hangs,i
have to restart. I checked the hdd settings in bios, they match to the
numbers on the drive, drive is set as master and is only one on chain.
I tried sys.com c: it said,cant read media from drive c.
Thanks in advance.
