I have searched the boards and not found this problem, only some similar.

I had to reinstall windows xp pro sp2--again--and afterwards, my seondary HD
doesn't show in "my computer", but shows in disk management.

somehow, when I reinstalled, windows removed one of my partitions on my
secondary drive, marked the partition active (it wasn't before--no os on it).
In disk management, the disk shows without a drive letter, only gives me
option to delete partiition, cannot add drive letter. Also, on the left side,
where it says "Disk 1", it offers the option to make the disk a dynamic disk
(I thought it already was) In disk management, it shows up as healthy,
active.

It showed up briefly after intstallation, then didn't later. I was able to
verify that my data is still on the disk.

So, the questions are:
can I get a drive letter assigned so it shows up in my computer?
or How can I get my info off the disk?
if I choose to make it a dynamic disk, will it erase my data?
(I have searched ms knowledge base and cannot find an answer to this)

Thank you for anything you can tell me to help. Hope I didn't give too much
info, but needed to describe the whole problem.

Go to run, type:diskmgmt.msc In msc,L.click the partitiom or hd,go to actions,
all, select change letter or path, change letter...Also,if "make active" is
shown,
you might select that 1st...

Thank you for your post, Andrew, but that is the problem--disk management
does not give me the option to change or add a drive letter. It just has the
name I had assigned the disk.."stuff" and the disk is healthy(Active). The
option to change drive letter is greyed out--all options are greyed out
except delete partition, which I don't want to do because that is where all
my stuff is!

The drive that is marked active was not active before I reinstalled windows
on my C drive.
