On a Server runinning Win2000 Sp 4 and a 5200 smart controller that houses
two logical drives running Raid-5 one being (6*36 gb) Array"A"/ Logical drive
"1" and the other a (3*136 gb) Array"B" / Logical drive"2",
I added an additional 3 36gb drives to Array"A" now totaling ( physical
drives. The drive was extened and nows shows 109gb unallocated in Disk
Management.
Disk management doesnt allow any manipulation to this space ie:
partitioning,formating...
I would like to be able to delete a current drive (to increase space) and
give this unallocated space the new old drive letter. I would like to do
that to 3 or 4 drives.
Is this possible and or what is required/
Thanks in advance
Michael

Microsoft has a tool that will extend partitions, but be sure that your
system is in compliance with the requirements of the tool. See Knowledge
Base article 325590 How to use Diskpart.exe to extend a data volume in
Windows Server 2003, (http://support.microsoft.com/?id=325590) for a
description of Diskpart and it's applicability to your situation. Also,
before doing this type of operation with Diskpart or any other application,
I strongly recommend that you have a full backup of the server.
